A: If color is important to you, we suggest you peek at the pdfs of our scent colors first. Once you see a color that looks potential, you’re off to design your candle! Select your style first or your scent first — it doesn’t matter. Once you get to the scent drop-down menu, you will see the actual scent in full, living color. Please remember that both the Internet and your monitor play a role in how that color appears to you, so you should keep that in mind when viewing the image.

A: First, you’ll get 3- to 5-times the burning hours with gel, dollar for dollar. But more important than that is your health. Paraffin is the “bottom of the barrel” of the petroleum refining chain, remaining even after asphalt is extracted. In its Proposition 65 Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, the California legislature identified at least seven major toxins released into the air when wax candles are burned. Three of these toxins are the cancer-causing agents toluene, benzene and napthalene.1 The EPA is on its second study of “Transmission of Particular Matter through Burning Candles”. All toxins are present in the micro-particles of greasy black soot released by even the most expensive wax candles. This soot deposits itself on the insides of your lungs every time you inhale. If you’ve ever tried to scrape hardened wax off a flat surface, just imagine it clinging to your lung tissue! A: They are totally different. Wax uses “polar” fragrance. Since polar fragrance can be used in bath and body products, sachets and home goods, you will notice those products in many wax candle stores today. Ask yourself why a candle store would be carrying such items, then read the answer to the question above and you’ll figure it out. Gel uses “non-polar” fragrance. It is very human-friendly, does not cause asthmatic or allergic reactions, will not give you a headache or make you nauseous. In fact, asthmatic people who visit the Newport store are amazed that they are able to stay and shop for as long as they need without experiencing any distress at all! And then there’s the health of your pet...[

A: Our candles will not. If you buy a candle in the local dollar store, chances are it is imported from India. It was one of those imports that gave problems, because the safety guidelines call for 5-7% fragrance per volume of gel and some of the imports have up to 30% fragrance. That is literally a little bomb! Our candles are domestically made according to the strictest guidelines and we.ve sold thousands of clean, fragrant, problem-free candles.
